Welcome to Monster of the Week! This is a short series where I discuss a few of the monsters in Netwhack and why they were added, what their balance considerations are. Sort of like a beastiary. It won't always be one monster a week, sometimes one every two or three weeks. But it will always be at least one monster per month! I mean come on, if it was any slower than that i'd have to call it the monster of the month and that doesn't sound as snappy.
